This article is the last of a series of three for the National Old Time Fiddle Contest (NOTF) newsletter highlighting the evolution of the contest and a few of its notable grand champions. In this article we focus on the period 1990-2014 and Tristan and Tashina Clarridge, who won six grand champion-ships in the period 2002-2008.
Since 1990, Texas style competition fiddling dominated and every grand champion first won when thirty two years of age or younger (many under age 20) and many had classical training. And with Danita Hartz' victory in 1998, a woman won the top prize. Indeed, young women won five straight years from 2009 to 2013.

The incredible Grand Champion fiddlers listed in the above table all went on to excel in larger musical communities. The internet provides readily accessible information on most of the other winners.
Idaho born Danita and Matt Hartz won five Grand Championships between 1988 and 2001 and became well respected per-formers and educators. Katrina Nicolayeff also chose a life of music instruction after sweeping the 'Big Three" in fiddling — The National Old Time Fiddle Contest, World Fiddle Championship in Crockett, Texas, and the Grand Masters fiddle contest in Nashville. In the broader American roots music genre (including bluegrass), Luke Bulla, Alex Hargreaves and Kimber Ludiker have achieved nation-al prominence. In this article, we focus on Tristan Clarridge and his sister Tashina and their incredible run of six grand championships between 2002 and 2008.
